My goal here is to get a more accurate idea of the absolute minimum requirements, so I can say stuff like "Oh, I recommend at least a 500W motor here, but if you use a 300W, you can expect it to take X seconds to accelerate with a top speed of Y", that sort of thing.
At the other extreme, I can use those motors to exert forces many times higher than the design *should* be able to handle, so I can see what parts of the robot fail/are the "weakest links", then address them in later design...
