I think having a football ethos, if not style of play that transcends the manager is sensible, and you find managers who can work within that. This ethos can change over time and will evolve, but it shouldn't lurch every time there is a need to change the manager. It might even be that managers start to get a bit more time, working on longer term aims within a settled structure rather than expected to work some form of magic in a matter of months.
